Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital *
A major staged renewal and redevelopment process at the hospital was completed between 1998 and 2003 to renew and replace infrastructure as follows:
- A fire protection system and fire pump was designed and fitted to the entire 210,000 ft2 facility in phases, including asbestos abatement
- A new boiler plant facility and new 30,000MBH (8,784 kW) high pressure steam boilers were fitted and the old steam boilers were demolished
- A new hot-water perimeter radiation system was installed throughout the acute care areas.
- Renovations were completed to the mental health unit
- A 30,000ft2 3-storey Ambulatory Care Centre was added
- Chillers were replaced and networked together for redundancy
Mr. Hutchison acted as the design lead and partner in charge for all of the projects at KBRH, and coordinated a specialty team of Asbestos Abatement, Electrical & Architectural consultants.
