Okanagan Pellet Company – Dust Collection Systems Safety Audit and Safety Classification *

Mr. Hutchison completed a detailed Dust Hazard Audit (DHA), NFPA and NFPA652 Audit, electrical area classification, fire protection audit, BC Building Code audit and other engineering work at a wood pellet fuel manufacturing facility in West Kelowna, BC.

The equipment audited on site included lateral, vertical and pneumatic conveying equipment, fire protection sprinklers, dust collection equipment, bucket elevators, silos, pellet presses, hammer mills, shaker screens and automatic baggers & balers.  The facility utilized waste kiln-dried pine planer shavings from nearby sawmills as an input to its operations, and the company packaged both wood pellets as fuel and planer shavings for animal bedding.
