Style Line Manufacturing – Dust Control System *

Mr. Hutchison provided engineering support and acted as the Prime Consultant to the site’s insurer for the resolution of an insurance claim resulting from a major dust collector deflagration and fire that disabled two large dust control systems.  During the loss event a flame propagated approximately 75 feet from the outdoor discharge of the largest of the two dust collectors.

The engineering services provided included:

• An estimate of the value of the installed dust collection equipment
• An estimate of the cost to replace the non-conforming equipment with equipment of like kind and quality (LKQ)
• An estimate of the cost to replace the dust collection system with a code-conforming system
• A complete redesign of the dust control system served by a single dust collector of 40,000 CFM

Engineering services were provided in an expedited format to reduce the length of the claims process and to ensure that the insured was able to restore production volumes quickly.
