TECK Highland Valley Copper A/B Line Dust Control System Evaluation

CURA was contracted by TECK-Highland Valley Copper (TECK-HVC) to provide a modern best-practices evaluation of the existing dust control system for the Coarse Ore Tower #2, Coarse Ore Feed System below Coarse Ore Stockpile #2, and for the A/B Line Coarse Ore feed systems that feed the Highland Mill.

Our analysis included an end-to-end wholistic review of the entire A/B Line feed and ore transfer systems, from the apron feeders to the discharge points inside of the Highland Mill, and our recommendations for system improvements and replacements were detailed in a thorough report that was delivered to TECK-HVC on an emergency basis due to the imminent failure of a major component of the dust control system.

CURA completed an in-office analysis of the existing drawings and details of the dust control system as well as a walk-through of the site, and our recommendations included the addition of our sister company’s specialized conveyor belt cleaning devices that remove 95% of the fugitive particulate from the return belt surface of horizontal belt conveyors.

The overall project goal targeted a 95% reduction of fugitive particulate.
