UBC Okanagan 25 Year Campus Master Plan for Medium Temperature District Hot Water Heating
The approved UBC Okanagan 2015 Campus Master Plan indicated a requirement to extend medium temperature district energy system (MDES) hot water to 231,976m2 (2,496,969ft2) of existing and planned facilities over a 20~25year period commencing in 2015.
CURA provided Hot Water District Energy master planning services to UBC Okanagan as a component of the 2015 Campus Master Plan that included thermal demand load estimating, main and branch pipe sizing & routing, estimating system flow rates and expected ΔT temperature differentials for 40 connected facilities of 271,286m2 (2,920,100ft2), spanning a 25 year future period.
A later phase of work included the detailed design and installation of an initial 440m long section of 250mm diameter underground district energy hot water pipeline between the Central Heat Plant and LDES/Geoexchange Control Facility.
