UBC Okanagan Administration Building Fire System Upgrade

CURA acted as the Prime and Mechanical Consultant for a complete fire protection system code and condition assessment for this 60,000ft2 institutional building in Kelowna BC.  The first phases of the project included a complete evaluation of the building’s fire protection systems and fire alarm system, plus a condition assessment and a complete building survey of the sizes, length and configuration of the building’s fire protection piping to update the University’s many drawings of the multiple renovations that occurred over 28 years.

Our staff surveyed the existing fire protection systems during evening and weekend hours to avoid disruption to the building’s operations and many occupants.  Our engineering team also included Electrical Engineers.

The second phase of the project involved the design and implementation of the upgrades recommended via the initial reporting phase as well as construction administration of the general contractor and subcontractors.
